Rome Georgia has a large variety of restaurants to choose from. Rome GA restaurants come in many shapes and sizes, prices and cuisines. The Homestead has the best pinto beans in town. They come with freshly baked cornbread and best of all it is all you can eat. The food is cooked to order and is always fresh and hot. I love to eat here.

My favorite when I go there is the Prime Rib. I just seem to love Prime Rib and Pinto Beans with a side order of slaw. Not forgetting cutting me off a big hunk of cheese to eat with my salad and beans as well as the bread. They also have boiled shrimp on the bar certain days.

The Homestead is one of Rome Georgia’s most established and recommended restaurants. Closed on  Mondays and only open in the evenings you need to make time to try The Homestead Restaurant. You will not be dissappointed.

I have eaten Japanese at all of the Japanese restaurants in Rome Georgia as well as one in Pigeon Forge Tennessee and one in Cartersville Georgia so I am not an expert by no means but I do know fresh food when I eat it. Blue Fin Sushi & Grill has some of the best Japanese cuisine in our area and the freshest Sushi as I have ever eaten.

Blue Fin Sushi & Grill has become my favorite places to eat when I want great Japanese cuisine. The way they pay attention to the details when preparing their food can be seen when the plate arrives at your table.

The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable of their menu. Some of the older staff knows a lot about the different sushi rolls they offer. One of the owners is usually there and will come to your table to make sure everything is the way it should be and is more than willing to correct any problems you may have. Not that I have had a problem at all.

My wife and I eat here at least once a week most weeks and since they have great specials for lunch you may see me here 2 times a week for lunch. Monday and Tuesday nights are a great time to visit as they also have specials on items such as their Teriyaki Chicken and Ribeye Steak. Their Sweet and Sour Chicken is the best I have eaten anywhere. Lightly breaded and just the right amount of sauce to chicken ratio. They serve sauteed vegetables and fried rice with most of the meals as well as the ginger salad and broth.

Their Ginger salad is the best I have ever had and they offer a chicken broth as well as the fish broth. I prefer the chicken but this is not because the fish is not as good it is just my preference.

They have a great selection of appetizers on the menu and they are reasonably priced for what you get. We always order the Pork Gyoza and I pick at least one additional one just to try something different. I have never received a bad appetizer.

They also own several other Japanese restaurants with the closet one around being in Cartersville Georgia by the name of Okinawa. They tell me it is similar but does have it’s differences.

They have 2 120″ TV screens full of football and about 6 smaller screens playing sports all day long. A full bar for what ever pleases you and some of the best thin crust pizza you could ever sink your teeth into.

As I walk through the door into the restaurant I feel as though I am in a real sports bar on Broad Street but with a family friendly atmosphere. I was greeted pleasantly and seated promptly in the space of my choosing next to the front windows. If I had known about the 120″ TV screens I may have asked for a different seat but I could still see the game on one of their smaller screens.

As the waitress introduced herself and asked what I would like to drink I noticed something that I had eaten in an Italian restaurant a long time ago but by a new name. It was called “mini garlic knobs” so I asked her to bring me a order. When they arrived minutes later I knew I had found the right place for a great meal today. They are small little biscuit looking rolls of what seemed like pizza dough wadded up, cooked and smothered in an olive oil and garlic mixture that was so sweet to the taste as garlic should be that I only took a couple home to the wife to try. It’s an hour later now and the garlic taste is gone but the memory of the experience and taste still lingers. Maybe I will drop in this afternoon for another order.

Now for the pizza I ordered. I did not need or want a whole pizza so I looked over the menu and to my surprise they sold their pizza by the slice. This was just what I needed for a light lunch. They sell any of their specialty pizzas by the slice, 12″ or 16″. Slices start at 3.34 each so I ordered their “Johnny’s Deluxe” which is loaded with meats such as sausage, beef, Canadian bacon and pepperoni as well as onions, mushrooms and green peppers. As it was set on the table in less that 10 minutes I was really pleased to see that it was fresh looking and the cheese was melted perfectly. I took my first bite and realized that their was more meat on the pizza than I ever expected. They do not skimp on the toppings yet just put enough sauce as not to overpower the pizza toppings as I have had on other local chain pizzas.

Will I return? YES. Their are so many things to try here such as their other pizzas and their Calzones or Stromboli or maybe their specialty wraps or oven baked subs. There is so much here you just have to see it for your self. As for pricing, it is very reasonable.

Happy Eating…..

Sounds like a pitch for a restaurant doesn’t it? Well I felt that way today and decided to try the smoked burger that I had heard so much about. I pulled up to the takeout window where I was greeted by a young man who asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted one of their burgers and asked him what was came on it. He proceeded to tell me everything but the kitchen sink. I said fine and ordered one. To my surprise this burger was only 3.50 today so I got what I thought was a bargain since I had eaten other large burgers at other restaurants and paid more.

To my surprise when they handed me the sack it felt like they had put a brick in it. The burger had to weight a pound or so. When I got it home and opened the sack I was pleasantly surprised at the burger. It was done to perfection with a pink smoke ring on the outer portion of the burger. Just enough condiments to make it worth using 5 napkins. I felt I was in hog (uh bull) heaven with this burger. Just enough smoke flavor in the burger for you to taste it with every bite without the charcoal and lighter fluid taste that you get from a home cooked burger. Needless to say their was enough here for a snack later.

So the next time you think about pulling out the grill and spending all that time preparing the burgers, getting the grill going and taking the time to cook your burger just take that same amount of time to call Uncle Johns BBQ and preorder your burgers. Harold (the owner) will make sure your experience is a tasty one.

Oh also try his Barbecue and Stew. They are great as well. He makes his own sauce but this is for another day.

As for the food you will be very well pleased with the steaks, salads and other fixings. We had a Porterhouse which was on sale and a Ribeye for my wife. I had a baked sweet potato and my wife had a regular baked potato.

The first thing they brought us out wa some of the softest rolls smothered on butter and garlic powder I have ever eaten. We had to order a second helping when the steaks arrived beccause we had devoured the first round.

As an appetizer my wife ordered some potato skins. When they came it was like ordering 2 whole potatos on a plate. Covered in cheese, fresh backon and scallions. They also added tomatoes which i had to take off as my wife does not eat them but the flavor and size definetly made up for that.

When the steaks arrived they were cooked perfectly. Medium for me and well for my wife. The thing was even well done her steak was almost as juicy as mine done medium. As for the size, well, we could not finish either steak or the potatos. I had a great midnight snack and lunch the next day.

They are only open Wednesday – Sunday after 4:30 so plan ahead…
